German Football Museum shows "Wembley - 50 Years On"

#bild#The exhibition features artistic media installations and photographs, some of them previously unpublished, of this special chapter in German football history.

Among those expected to attend the opening at 11am on 31 July are DFB president Reinhard Grindel and 1966 World Cup runners-up Uwe Seeler, Hans Tilkowski, Willi Schulz and Siggi Held. The German Football Museum has placed a limited number of tickets for this exclusive event on open sale. The exhibition is accompanied by the German-language catalogue "Wembley 1966 - Der Mythos in Momentaufnahmen" (Klartext Verlag, €14.95), which looks at 1960s sports photography and investigates the last remaining Wembley secrets. In addition, the German Football Museum is offering tours focusing on the relationship between German and English football.

Museum director Manuel Neukirchner said: "The pictures of the 'third goal' and of the Germany players, who after 120 minutes full of drama at Wembley Stadium showed themselves to be fair and upstanding losers, are etched in the collective memory and have become a part of our identity. Uwe Seeler encouraged us to bring the Wembley legend to life in a special exhibition. With the artful black-and-white aesthetic of 1960s sports photography and a spectacular media installation, we cast an exciting glance at a truly exceptional final."
