Guidelines

We are committed to making a positive contribution towards achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement through our activities. To reduce energy consumption, we raise awareness amongst our staff, suppliers and service providers. We are continuously minimising our greenhouse gas emissions and acting responsibly in harmony with people and nature. In the interests of future generations, we use 100 per cent green electricity for our museum and administrative operations. To further drive forward the climate transition as a national flagship project, we will invest in on-site electricity generation in the short term and continue to rely exclusively on renewable heating energy (district heating).

We are committed to purchasing recyclable and energy-efficient products and services wherever possible, so that we can significantly reduce our overall waste volume and energy consumption. We regularly analyse the products we purchase with regard to the packaging materials used and implement reusable systems with a view to achieving a comprehensive and consistent circular economy. To promote sustainable consumption, we work with local organic food producers and collaborate with well-known national trading partners in the field of fair trade. In future, environmental and sustainability criteria will be given greater weight in tenders. Furthermore, we expect our suppliers and service providers to support us in achieving our climate targets.

We are creating incentives for our staff to make greater use of local and long-distance public transport. To further reduce emissions from commuting, we are enabling remote working. We intend to gradually expand the charging infrastructure for electric cars at the museum. Through the use of digital technologies, business travel is to be phased out gradually.
