Autumn holidays at the Football Museum – a home match for the whole family

The Football Museum is hosting the SUPERHEROES exhibition and a packed ANSTOSS programme of events

A buzzing autumn at the German Football Museum: During the school holidays (17 October – 1 November), the museum is open every day, from Monday to Sunday. As well as the permanent exhibition, there’s a varied children’s programme and the special exhibition SUPERHEROES for the whole family. What’s more, the ANSTOSS cultural programme is packed full of events right through to the end of the year. ‘Legends’ evenings – featuring, amongst others, 1990 World Cup winner Stefan Reuter – are on the programme, as are book launches with Christoph Kramer, Sergej Barbarez and Ulli Klose, and the popular DFB Cup draw.

During the autumn half-term holidays, visitors can enjoy a photo booth featuring stars such as Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, Giulia Gwinn and the mascot Rio, a painting and craft station, retro gaming and a badge-making machine. The theme of our museum treasure hunt this time is ‘Discover your football stars’. New this time is the photo printer, which children can use to create their own collectable picture featuring their photo. The popular family tour starts daily at 11.30 am, whilst the open Daily Tour runs daily at 11 am and 2 pm during the holidays.

The special exhibition SUPERHEROES. Jamal Musiala. Florian Wirtz. The Immersive Experience, spanning 1,000 square metres, combines real-life match scenes with comic strips, animations and unique mementos from the childhoods of the two international players. The exhibition straddles the boundary between the digital and the analogue, between the real and the fictional world, and between film and performance.

After the autumn half-term, the only permanent programme dedicated to football culture invites you to join in: at the ‘Legends Evenings’, World and European champions, multiple title-winners and crowd favourites spend two 45-minute sessions reflecting on the question ‘What was it like back then?’, delving once again deep into their own careers. This year’s guests have already included Rudi Völler and Alexandra Popp. On 17 December, the 1990 World Cup winner Stefan Reuter will be appearing.

No fewer than two books will be launched on 5 November. Under the title ‘Football in Times of War’, former professional Sergej Barbarez (Kreisläufe) will be joined by legendary RTL reporter Ulli Klose (Ein Leben lang Reporter) [Secure your tickets here]. The war in Bosnia and Herzegovina changed Barbarez’s life. He left his homeland, became the Bundesliga’s top scorer and a crowd favourite. Klose, for his part, spent decades as a reporter travelling precisely to those places where crisis and war raged.

In the midst of the Balkan War, he once made his way to the home of football manager Aleksandar Ristić’s father to deliver a message from his son. On 19 November, the 2014 World Cup winner, popular TV pundit and acclaimed author Christoph Kramer will present his new novel *Wolkenberührpunkt* [book your tickets].
